'Fast and Furious 8' spoilers, latest news: Vin Diesel shows off logo, next location for new film; Jason Statham to return?

Vin Diesel was always the guy to serve up new details in any way, shape or form about "Fast & Furious 8." He was the one to hint at its immediate existence in the wake of the success of the latest film in the franchise, and he took care of dropping the release date of the movie, which is April 14, 2017.

Just recently, the actor shared a photo on his Instagram account of what seems to be a poster for the movie. Although looking like a prototype, it is enough to let fans have their very first look into the upcoming film. The snap shows a huge logo for the movie looming over the Brooklyn Bridge.

Fans now believe that "Fast & Furious 8" will be tearing through the streets of New York — something Diesel already mentioned weeks back. Also, at the height of the box office success of "Furious 7," the actor already said that Kurt Russell's character will step up in a follow-up film.

Mr. Nobody wasn't the focus of the blockbuster action thriller simply because a much bigger storyline, which will be fleshed out in an entirely different film, was being cooked up (or was already thought of). "Furious 7" was meant to focus on Deckard Shaw's (Jason Statham) vendetta.

"Kurt Russell came in for this movie but we really hired him for a story that follows this, that takes place in New York," Diesel revealed during an interview in "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Russell's character helped Dominic capture Deckard. It is said that the Toretto gang will be dealing with the shadows of dirty politics as they delve into the storyline Russell came in for.

Meanwhile, Statham is down for another round of being a baddie and told MTV that Shaw's exploits are far from over and to make sure he wins this time, he will get help from another member of the family — his sister, who could be played by Melissa McCarthy.

Going back, Diesel does not forget to commemorate his late friend and co-star Paul Walker, who he revealed has always believed that "Fast & Furious 8" was "guaranteed." He said during the MTV Awards 2015 that "Furious 7 was for Paul, 8 is from Paul."
