It is already known that rapper and song writer, Eminem, is currently working on a new album. Recently, it has been confirmed that he is recording a track with none other than Beyonce, who is another popular icon in today's music scene as well as the beloved wife of Jay-Z. This is the first significant sign of life regarding Eminem's upcoming album titled "Revival."
In a report by NPR Music, Eminem's track with Beyonce is titled "Walk on Water," and it was just released recently. Despite releasing one track with a very popular artist, Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is still being very secretive about most of the details surrounding the upcoming album, which is something that he is known for in the past.
However, the early marketing releases only gave fans very little information but it seems to be very effective in generating hype. As for the song itself, it is a trademark reminder of Eminem's classic style of rap, which is very honest, personal, as well as emotional. According to The Cornell Daily Sun, "Walk on Water" is evidence that Eminem is more than aware that he has fallen from the grace he once received at the height of his popularity.
Additionally, if "Walk on Water" will serve as a basis in terms of what fans can expect from "Revival," then it is possible that Eminem has lost some semblance of what he once was —a lyrical genius. However, Official Charts has reported that for this week, the recently released single has reached number one in the music charts. The track was released last Friday, on Nov. 10.
According to Detroit News, Eminem had previously marketed the track on Twitter days before it was released. Eminem posted a picture of a prescription which stated "Walk on Water: Take as Needed." Perhaps, Eminem will be revealing more details about his upcoming album once he guests on the television show "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 18.
