OS X Yosemite: Top 5 reasons why Mac users should download now

New OS X Yosemite interface Apple

Apple finally rolled out the OS X Yosemite last week alongside the release of the new generation of iPads.

The new OS X Yosemite works hand-in-hand with the latest iOS 8. For the first time, the wall between the iOS and OS X is broken, which enables the integration of Apple's desktops and laptops with its iPhone and iPad lines. The new desktop OS packs features such as AirDrop and iCloud Drive.

Below are the top five reasons why users should download and install the new OS X Yosemite update.

Free

One of the primary reasons why one should download the new OS X Yosemite is because it is completely free unlike the previous Mac OS.  Users do not have to purchase the desktop OS update to enjoy the new features that it brings.

Bug Free

Surprisingly, a lot of reviews claim that the new OS X 10.10 Yosemite is stable and bug free. The lack of bugs and issues is attributed to Apple's public beta rolled out this summer, which enabled the company to comb out more bugs than usual.

AirDrop

Apple improved the capabilities of AirDrop as it seamlessly connects OS X and iOS devices. Before, Apple allowed content transfer between devices with the same operating system only. Now, the company broke down the exclusivity among its operating systems, enabling users to send content across systems and share files, contacts, links, etc. from one iOS device to another or one OS X device to another.

iCloud Drive

With the same technology as AirDrop, Apple expanded the functions of its iCloud Drive. Users can now save and access documents on any OS X or iOS devices making it easy for users to save and organize their files.

Handoff

The new OS X Yosemite comes with the new Handoff feature that makes data from Apple apps, such as Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, and Contacts, available on iOS and OS X devices. For example, if one has an unfinished email on their desktop, they can complete it on their iPhone. Third party developers can also take advantage of this new feature for their apps.
