Legions of gamers were excited when it was reported that the rollout of the new expansion for Bungie's space-age futuristic shooter "Destiny" contained numerous Easter eggs such as secret rooms and hidden stashes.
Recently, some players reported seeing a secret room deep within the Dreadnaught, the Fallen battleship that served as the Taken King's enclave. When Guardians completed the new King's Fall Raid mission, one of the perks that some enterprising players and observers discovered there was a secret room that can only be accessed via specific sequence codes using the lamps in the Court of Oryx.
However, it seems that the secret room is just that – an Easter egg without any specific game-affecting rewards.
In a tweet, game designer Luke Smith said the secret room was designed as a basketball room and a fun Easter egg for the development team – nothing more. Smith said, "Oryx's Basketball Court is a fun Easter Egg the team put together. It's just a place to dunk like your neighbors 8 ft rim. No loot to find."
Bungie rarely comments on anything secret about the game, letting players discover it themselves. However, it seems that some players are taking all the time in the world to discover the secrets behind the hidden room, so the developer confirmed that the room is just there for players to discover as a gag, without anything secret in it.
In the secret room, there is a statue that players can use as a ball and dunk it in a relic, which serves as the room's hoop. Although the relic seems high off the ground, getting inside the room activates an overcharge buff via six vents that give extra jumping boost for Guardians.
Meanwhile, aside from the secret room, there are other hidden gems to discover in Year Two of "Destiny" and "The Taken King" expansion, such as the fabled Sleeper Stimulant and No Time to Explain hidden quests.
