'Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin' release date moved up to April 2

Dark Souls II Bandai Namco Games

From Software and Bandai Namco Games are bringing the much-awaited action role-playing video game "Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" to the gaming world days early. Previously set to come out on April 6, the third installment for the "Dark Souls II" series will now be launched on April 2 for current-gen consoles. This is to give way to the bank holiday in the U.K.

However, its release will be rather limited as the date falls on Easter Monday so some stores will be closed and others will have limited store hours. Meanwhile, the release for PC, which is set on April 24, remains unchanged.

"Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" was originally released to last-generation consoles. Now that it is set for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, the game should show off some upgrades on visual quality and overall gaming experience and performance.

But apart from that, part of the perks of the current-gen consoles is helping the new "Dark Souls II" accommodate more online players. The game defies the maximum amount of gamers that can participate in a single session.

The upgraded title is also tied up with new downloadable content that bring in new bosses, NPCs, events, new items and item placements, and changes on the game's lore. There are three of those packs, namely "Crown of the Sunken King," "Crown of the Old Iron King," and "Crown For the Ivory King." With the new packs, players will also be able to come across a dragon in Heide's Tower of Flame.

On the technical side, there is noticeable improvement on the game's audio. But the boost on the graphics is the best part. The game is set at 1080p at 60fps, which should make the adventures look immaculate on screen. It is actually touted as the game with the highest quality to date, which should, of course, be saying something.

Indeed, "Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" has all the potentials of an excellent game. With its launch a week away, gamers are in for a great treat.
