'Dance Moms' season 6 spoilers: Maddie Ziegler skipped first competition?

Lifetime is yet to offer juicy details about "Dance Moms" season 6 but there are already talks about the first competition for the new season. According to reports, the Abby Lee Dance Crew was in California to compete in the Sheer Talent Special Edition Competition.

International Business Times says that the group delivered a stellar performance in the contest and in fact emerged at the top by the end of the night. They performed "The Girl in the Plastic Bubble," which is considered their specialty.

The performance earned them the top spot and put Jeanette Cota's Broadway Dance Academy, one of their biggest rivals, in second place in the teen division. Cota's team performed "The Waiting Room," which is said to bear similarities to ALDC's performance of the same song last season.

As previously rumored, Brynn Rumfallo is said to join "Dance Moms" season 6. Reports say she bagged a first place award overall and for the preteen lyrical division with "The Coronation." JoJo Siwa's "Own It" routine was awarded platinum.

Meanwhile, Maddie Ziegler, whose return to the series was confirmed just a couple of weeks back, purportedly did not compete. Although she was listed a contestant and was even there, she wasn't able to perform allegedly due to her filming commitments for the movie "The Book of Henry," which has "Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow at the helm.

If this was really the case and the premiere of "Dance Moms" season 6 will really center on the Sheer Talent Special Edition Competition, it looks like Maddie won't be around that much. Nonetheless, fans should catch a glimpse of her there. Just recently, Abby shared a photo of her girls on stage, with Maddie, Brynn, Nia Frazier, Maddie's younger sister Mackenzie Ziegler and JoJo.

There is no official premiere date for "Dance Moms" season 6 but it looks like the season is taking shape. There's no solid update as to Abby and Lifetime's search for new talents for the upcoming season.
