Da Vinci Code 3 movie: Tom Hanks, Ron Howard set to reunite for third film

Award-winning actor Tom Hanks and award-winning director Ron Howard will unite once more for another installment of the Da Vinci Code franchise. Da Vinci Code 3, based on Dan Brown's fourth Langdon novel, Inferno, will follow the highly controversial and successful movies, Da Vinci Code (2006) and Angels and Demons (2009).

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures and Imagine Entertainment already pegged April 2015 as the target month for filming, and it will be shot in Italy. As in the previous films, Howard will direct.

Hanks will come back to the silver screen as Harvard professor of symbology, Robert Langdon. If the movie stays true to the novel, then the audience will be taking an intriguing adventure with the professor as he tries to regain his memory, figure out why someone is trying to kill him, and what the mysterious cylinder in his jacket that's emblazoned with a biohazard sign is.

Together with Dr. Sienna Brooks, Langdon has to unravel the mystery behind the cylinder, and what it has to do with Dante's 14th century epic poem, Divine Comedy, particularly the first part called "Inferno". They have to do it before time runs out – or the world will suffer.

Author Dan Brown provides a book teaser on his website:

In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history's most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces . . . Dante's Inferno.

Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante's dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust . . . before the world is irrevocably altered.

Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will produce and David Koepp will be in charge of the screenplay.
