For winning a single game in 12 games, Crystal Palace has decided to end erstwhile manager Neil Warnock from his duties as first manager of the ball club.
After dropping a 3-1 decision to Southampton last Friday, Crystal Palace found itself third from the bottom and in the relegation zone.
Warnock, who was appointed just last August is the first Premier League manager to lose his job this season. For the time being, Keith Millen has been assigned to take charge of managerial duties.
"Crystal Palace Football Club can today confirm that Neil Warnock has been relieved of his duties and is no longer first-team manager," Palace said on its website (www.cpfc.co.uk). "The club would like to put on record its thanks to Neil for all his hard work and energy over the past four months."
Warnock's last stint with Crystal Palace was actually his second one. Warnock was originally with the team before it went into administration in 2010. He transferred to the Queens Park Rangers and led the team to the Premier League before being booted out in 2012. He also served as the manager for Leeds United before being fired after just a year of service.
He was recalled by Crystal Palace this August after former Tony Pulis left two days before the start of the season. And while hopes were high that Warnock would be able to help the team improve their previous 11th place finish, the club's performance was certainly something that did not sit well with management.
With the Crystal Palace manager position now vacant, there are at least four names being mentioned to replace the 66 year old Warnock. This includes Keith Millen, Tim Sherwood, Glenn Hoddle, and Mick McCarthy.
There is not clear picture on who would have the inside track to take over from Warnock. However with the January transfer window fast approaching, all that may be decided soon. It could be someone from the four names mentioned above or someone else.
