Colorado Springs Fire Mandatory Evacuation Zones [MAP]

An immediate evacuation order has been issued by The City of Colorado Springs. According to the National Weather Service, the zone is as follows:

"The north border is North Gate Boulevard and Old North Gate Road. The south border is Flying Horse Club Drive, Vine Cliff Heights, Equinox Drive, serenity Park Drive, Barossa Valley Road and Veneto Way. The east border is Highway 83 and the west border is Voyager Parkway."

Residents are urged to go to the Palmer Ridge High School evacuation center if they cannot find friends and family to stay with in light of the biggest fire to hit the state. The full address is: 19255 Monument Hill Road in Monument.

The Sheriff's office tweeted that a mandatory evacuation "means you are in immediate danger. Load your family and pets, and GO NOW."

Residents who have no means of transportation are urged to call call (719) 444-7000.

A pre-evacuation warning was given to residents of Colorado Springs this morning but it is only now that the mandatory order has been given by the city.

The mandatory evacuation zone in the Black Forest fire has also been expanded this morning.

The fire has burned through over 15,000 acres and burned over 360 homes as of Thursday morning.

The extended evacuation zone means that over 13,000 homes have been evacuated across 94,000 acres. Around 38,000 residents have already evacuated the area, according to the Denver Post.
