Cleveland Cavaliers rumors: Could Cliff Alexander fit?

As the NBA gears up for the NBA playoffs, attention is likewise placed on the players entering this year's NBA draft.

With most teams bound to be closely scrutinizing the upcoming batch of rookies, one player who could possibly be in the radar of most teams in need of help upfront is Cliff Alexander from the University of Kansas Jayhawks.

Cliff Alexander is known to be a solid role player which any team would surely want to take in. However, there could be a catch with word that the forward has some character issues. With that said, such may be something NBA teams would not want to take in.

One team that could do well with his talent are the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is no secret that the Cavs need some help up front, players who can come off the bench and spell the likes of Kevin Love, Kendrick Perkins, Timofey Mozgov and Tristan Thompson.

And with the uncertainty surrounding on Kevin Love, the Cavs need to be prepared in the event that the All-Star power forward decides to leave the franchise.

Aside from the character angle associated with Alexander, he stands to be a good addition for the Cavs or any team for that matter. But this is with the understanding that any team which would eventually draft him would be looking for a role player and not a go-to-guy. Apparently Alexander is not categorized in that niche.

The Cavaliers may not need to look at the NBA draft for now but should they decide to get a player or two from the NBA draft, Alexander could be a prime consideration.

The move then would be either to keep him or include him in a trade for more established cagers but all this may depend on what happens to the frontline of the Cavs after the current NBA season.
