Cleveland Cavaliers rumors: Cavs interested in free agent Jordan Farmar

Jordan Farmar is out of a team right now but that could be short-lived. This was after the Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly showed interest in the free agent point guard. Farmar could be signed up after he clears waivers.

Farmar was waived by the Los Angeles Clippers to make room for the coming of coach Doc Rivers' son, Austin.

If things fall into place, Farmar could be in for a reunion with head coach David Blatt. Farmar played under Blatt for Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2011 during the NBA lockout period and held averages of 17.3 points in 31.2 minutes per outing. Farmar has also had stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Jersey Nets.

Farmar could play chief backup to Kyrie Irving, taking over the spot currently held by Matthew Dellavedova.

Farmar so far has been far from showing credible performances thus far, averaging just 4.6 points and 1.9 assists. But given the depth of the Los Angeles Clippers lineup, limited playing time may have something to do with his poor clips.

Aside from Farmar, the Cavs could go for Nate Robinson too. Robinson was waived by the Boston Celtics and is currently in the free agent market. The Cavs can sign either Farmar or Robinson outright for their open roster spot.

Either of the two could help ease the burden on Irving's shoulders as the Cavs continue to find the right mix to help improve on their current standing in the Eastern Conference. The Cavs are currently at sixth spot and tote a 21-20 win-loss record.
