Charlotte Hornets trade rumors: Hornets shopping Lance Stephenson?

Charlotte Hornets Wikipedia

There were a lot of expectations on Lance Stephenson since he was taken in by the Charlotte Hornets from the Indiana Pacers. Unfortunately Stephenson has been a big letdown thus leading to rumors that the colorful cager could be donning a new jersey soon.

Stephenson has been a far cry from his self when he was still with the Pacers and despite all the hype on Stephenson (which included owner and NBA great Michael Jordan), the Hornets are exploring trade possibilities.

A potential place of destination for Stephenson could be Denver. Aside from the Nuggets, there are seven other teams reportedly interested in his services. That list includes the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets.

A trade may be delayed for the time-being since the Hornets have been winning as of late. But with the trade deadline looms and a good offer comes around, Stephenson could be shipping out sooner than we think.

Aside from the back-to-back wins over the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics, the Hornets are giving Stephenson the benefit of the doubt. For one he has had to battle injuries and assessing his performance immediately could be a bit abrupt.

The team plans to rest and allow Stephenson to heal first and then assess if the player is truly capable as marketed during the off season.

Stephenson is currently dealing with a pelvic injury and will be sitting out some games to allow him to recover. He has already missed several games but even without him on the active roster, the Hornets were able to string up some victories.

For now, there is no definite decision on what the Hornets plan to do but with the trade deadline fast approaching, a formal decision on the fate of Stephenson could be forthcoming.
