A new character will be joining Freeform's "Shadowhunters" season three.
It was announced at the recent San Diego Comic Con that Jordan Kyle, a character from the original book series, would be making its way to the show. Now thanks to Entertainment Weekly, the actor who will take on the role is revealed to be Chai Hansen.
Fans of the books already know the role Jordan Kyle will play in the Shadowhunter universe, and in the exclusive first look photo of Jordan Kyle's arrival, he is shown to be shaking hands with Simon (Alberto Rosende).
"Jordan comes into Simon's life in a fun, unexpected way," Shadowhunters showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer told EW. "The two instantly hit it off, but we soon find out there's a lot more to Jordan than meets the eye, and repercussions that affect more than just Simon."
In the books, Simon and Kyle became roommates even though both of them are holding some pretty major personal secrets. Whether the series will adapt the original course of events is yet to be seen in the third season.
Aside from "Shadowhunters," Hansen will also star in Netflix's reboot of '80s show "Monkey Magic," although the show is now renamed as "The New Legends of Monkey." He has also appeared in the fourth season of The CW's "The 100," where he played the role of Ilian, a grounder who became close with Marie Avgeropolous' Octavia Blake.
The official Twitter account of "Shadowhunters" also shared a short clip welcoming Hansen into the cast. In the short video, Rosende introduced his "buddy" Hansen, and after a failed handshake, just teased the fans on what's in store for the upcoming season.
Almost all of the original cast of the show will return to the third season. Aside from Hansen, two new characters will also be introduced in season three. Anna Hopkins (Arrow) will play Lilith, the Mother of Demons, and Javier Munoz (Hamilton) will play one of Magnus's warlock rivals.
"Shadowhunters" season three will premiere on Tuesday, March 20, 8 p.m. EST on Freeform.
