It is time for "Castle" to return with season 7's remaining episodes. Come Monday night, an all-new episode titled "Castle P.I." will air, and just based on the title alone, it looks like it's going to be full of fun moments — it will, in fact, show Beckett and Castle competing with one another.
Back in the mid-season finale, Castle was relieved from his duties at the NYPD, so he had to seek a new career — being a private investigator. On Monday night's episode, Castle will approach Beckett regarding a case. It seems like the two would work together on solving it, but they will instead end up competing on who will crack the case first. And because of that, Castle and Beckett will go to great lengths just to win the competition.
On one hand, Beckett has the manpower to help her solve the case faster. On the other hand, Castle can go about the investigation without following any rules, reports Carter Matt.
According to TVLine, the two will also use unusual tactics to gain a lead. Beckett will get someone drunk to get information, while Castle will resort to breaking into an office.
Showrunner David Amann explained why it is necessary for Castle's character development to be a private investigator for now.
"We thought it would give us some opportunities to upset the apple cart a little bit in terms of the Castle-Beckett professional relationship. We were looking for an interesting way to have Castle get into trouble. He kind of operated outside the lines in Episode 10, so we felt that like it was justified that he would be punished for that," Amann told TV Guide.
But apart from the case, it will be interesting to see how Castle will work his way back to the NYPD.
Elsewhere, actress Stana Katic was very active on Twitter following the airing of episode 10. She asked fans if they were enjoying season 7. The fans responded and also threw in some questions for the actress. She confirmed that episodes 13 and 14 are two parts of one episode, and she also said that the season will have 23 episodes.
"Castle" season 7 returns on Jan. 12 on ABC.
