'Castle' season 7 spoilers: Ryan gets tangled in a shooting in episode 18 'At Close Range'

After some time away from the television screen, "Castle" introduced viewers to Richard's new partner from Hong Kong. For the first time, fans saw Beckett intimidated, especially when her husband agreed that his new partner is "beautiful." Indeed, Beckett believes she may have found her match or, more accurately, met an upgraded version of herself.

Meanwhile, the second episode after the backbreaking hiatus of the series titled "At Close Range" will be more about homicide detective Kevin Ryan and his own tricks up his sleeves. The former narcotics division cop comes face to face with death as he goes on security detail for a congressman, a "charismatic" one as ABC describes him, who becomes a target of a shooting in a charity event.

Witnessing the crime up close, Ryan becomes determined in putting the guys responsible behind bars. For this, he enlists the help of Castle and Beckett as he re-examines the events that happened before bullets showered the scene.

As viewers know, Ryan is working part-time at his brother-in-law's private security company but things are shaken up with the situation, which is discovered to be far heinous beneath the surface. It looks like fingers will point at Ryan, and Castle's inference of a conspiracy may be proven accurate.

The promotional video for episode 18 suggests that Ryan has knowledge of the shooting. Does the detective have something to do with the murder attempt?

For the episode, Ricardo Chavira will play as the charming congressman on the receiving end of the crime. Reiko Aylesworth will play the role of his wife Mia. David Conrad was chipped in to play as the owner of the private security firm and Ryan's brother-in-law Frank, while Heather Mazur joins the installment as Frank's wife and Ryan's sister.

Season 7 episode 18 of "Castle" titled "At Close Range" will be out March 23.
