Boston Celtics trade news: Celtics try to hook Cousins

The NBA trade deadline is here and some teams may be making moves to try and re-organize their rosters in preparation for battles ahead.

However, that does not mean that teams at the tail-end of the standings are not going to try to make moves, including the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics as many know are in rebuild mode but with a 20-31 record in the Eastern Conference standings, they still have a chance at making the playoffs. And of course, if they do net some good talent, it is not mainly tailored for the playoffs but for the team's future.

Reportedly hot on their radar is Demarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings. Why Cousins? Sources say that the Celtics are on the lookout for big men and Cousins is at the top of the list.

The Celtics will try to do that but could need a lot of luck to pry Cousins away from the clutches of the Kings. And from all indications it may take a lot of luck!

However, luck could depend on how Cousins would be able to get along with new head coach George Karl. There are speculations that Karl and Cousins may not get along well and hence the potential trade if ever that does happen.

Karl follows a faster brand of basketball which point to less touches and plays for Cousins if ever. And hence with that in mind, Cousins may want out if he is unable to adapt to Karl's style of coaching.

Aside from Cousins, the Celtics are said to be interested as well in Ty Lawson of the Denver Nuggets and Enes Kanter of the Utah Jazz. Lawson could be a possible catch but Enes Kanter could be harder as well since the Jazz are likely to want to keep the big man as well.
