Boston Celtics 2015 rumors: DeMarcus Cousins on Boston Celtics radar?

Demarcus Cousins Wikipedia

The Boston Celtics have certainly surprised a lot of critics by making the NBA playoffs. While the team did bow to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the fact of the matter is that the Celtics were not even a team expected to be there in the first place.

Brad Stevens made fools of people who felt his style was not fit for the NBA, guiding the Celtics to the 7th seed of the NBA Eastern Conference and surprising many be making the playoffs.

Stevens was able to somehow maneuver the Celtics into the NBA playoffs despite giving away big names such as Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green. And as it turned out, Stevens may have founded the core of players that can place the Celtics back to their winning ways.

Among the players who made their mark were Isaiah Thomas, Jared Sullinger and rookie Marcus Smart. So with that trio and the rest on the same page, it may be time for the Celtics to add some big names. In short it may be time to spend!

So who is it going to be?

We all know that there are a lot of big names expected to hit the NBA free agent market soon and among the big names include that of LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love and DeAndre Jordan. Though it may not be easy, the Celtics will certainly try to be in the chase.

If that doesn't work, word has it that the Celtics are eyeing someone who is currently unhappy with his ballclub. That player is DeMarcus Cousins, the controversial big man known to have a short fuse. Outside of that, Cousins is undoubtedly a force to reckon with and he can surely provide the muscle and toughness the Celtics will surely need.

Why is Cousins unhappy? Apparently things don't seem to be working well in Sacramento. They have a new coach in George Karl but it seems that he and Cousins are not getting along that well. Add to the fact that Cousins may have taken exception from the firing of Mike Malone, the Kings seem to be in affix right now.

Cousins, who is in his second year of a $65 million dollar deal is however not indispensable. The Kings are open to trading anyone but at the right price. Cousins does come with a hefty price but with a flexible cap space, Danny Ainge may just bite. However, he may need to move some players and come up with a trade to make it happen.
