Years after the rumors about a South Korean MMO began to circulate online, game developer Pearl Abyss finally announced that the open beta for the jaw-dropping "Black Desert Online" game will begin on Dec. 17.
Based on reports, the soon-to-be released sandbox-oriented MMOPG will be available for pre-download starting Dec. 10. The game developer will also start allowing players to use the character creation tool once it becomes available on Dec. 12.
Since the game is known to have exceptional graphics, those who are interested in trying out the game during its open beta phase could surely use the extra days to come up with highly-detailed characters before playing it. "Black Desert Online" will reportedly deal with the feud between two opposing nations, named the Kingdom of Valencia and the Republic of Calpheon.
Several interesting features are also included in the upcoming game, such as a dynamic international weather system with different large-scale weather conditions including typhoons that could affect the gameplay. The game also has a day and night cycle that features steady lighting effects progression. Furthermore, there are different game contents depending on the time of day inside the game's realm.
Pearl Abyss initially launched a closed beta testing phase back in Oct. 17, 2013, and it lasted until Oct. 23 during the same year. The game developer originally planned to release the PC edition of "Black Desert Online" in Asia, but there are rumors claiming that they are arranging things with Sony so that they can release the upcoming MMORPG in PlayStation 4. However, there is no news yet if the game will come out in the Xbox console.
Aside from the scheduled open beta testing next week, Pearl Abyss also released a much-awaited trailer to show the detailed graphics of the game. The new trailer lasts for five minutes, and it shows that each character and the actual game play is worth the long wait.
Once the beta testing starts, the game is free to play in Asian countries, but game publisher Daum Communications is also planning to release it in North America and Europe sometime soon.
