News about the hotly-anticipated DC Comics film adaptation "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has emerged from the unlikeliest of places: the U.S. Senate hearings. Of course, it would not be that implausible if the Caped Crusader himself was there.
Just recently, Oscar-winner Ben Affleck stood and testified before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Diplomacy and National Security as the founder of Eastern Congo Initiative to talk about foreign aid and diplomacy concerns there. As he delivered his opening statement, Affleck greeted his co-star in the superhero flick who happened to have been inside the room as well.
"To Senator [Patrick] Leahy, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge my co-star in Batman," the actor said during the event. "The role is marginally smaller than mine but I understand you're quite good."

Affleck's revelation was not much of a surprise though. Even before that, there was already buzz claiming the politician's participation in the upcoming movie. Also, Leahy seems to be fond of appearing in "Batman" films. He had his moment in "Batman and Robin," which was released back in 1997. He was also the one who stood up to The Joker as the clown-clad serial killer interrupted a big Wayne revelry in the 2008 film "The Dark Knight." Lastly, the camera focused on him in "The Dark Knight Rises" in 2012.
There is no telling what Senator Leahy will be up to in the future cinematic clash of Gotham's hero and the Man of Steel. Nevertheless, IGN reminds everyone that the "Batman" enthusiast is a record-breaker for showing up in more "Batman" films than Batman actors Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be out on March 25 next year.
