Director James Cameron is dedicating more than a decade of his life to the "Avatar" franchise. "Avatar 2" is set to come out in holiday 2018, launching a string of sequels.

In an interview with Vulture, Cameron spoke about his commitment to "Avatar 2" and the film series as a whole and what it requires to work on such grand project.

"I'm happy that I'm going to get to work in the Avatar world for the next seven years at least," the director said. "I'm pretty excited about the fact that I get to dig in and live in that world for a long time," he went on to say.

However, "Avatar 2," and the films after it, are not the only means that fans can use to visit the beautiful world of Pandora. Cameron is also considering expanding the "Avatar" universe.

Much like "Star Wars," the filmmaker is looking to utilize any possible outlet that they can use to do so, may that be comic books, graphic novels, and prose novels.

"Every possible way we can give you a portal into the world of Pandora and that universe, we will," Cameron declared. A television show is not in the cards, though, as TV budget will not make for a quality adaptation.

Meanwhile, Cameron also discussed the core of the story of "Avatar 2" and the rest of the franchise, which is the relationship of mankind with technology and how "much more urbanized" the society has become as compared to the past.

"We're far, far down through the looking glass of our own technology now, and I think part of us is yearning for that reconnection to nature, and that's what the 'Avatar' films will remind us of," the director explained.

Not too long ago, Cameron spoke about the plot of "Avatar 2." The sequel will have the spotlight on Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and their life as parents and a family.

"Avatar 2" will premiere in cinemas on Christmas 2018.
