Asus Zenfone 3 release date news: lineup set for May 30 launch with 3 variants

Asus Zenfone fans are getting all fired up for the upcoming Zenvolution event, happening on May 30. The highly anticipated smartphone is expected to be revealed at the upcoming event and come in three variants.

A short clip was released by Asus just recently, enticing its fans to the upcoming Zenvolution event. The video is a compilation of footage that features the natural elements -- the air, the land and sea. In between shots, it shows images of a smartphone, its front, its back and its sides. At the end of the clip, three smartphone units are visible with different sizes but is too dark to see any features. The words "Clarity," "Desire" and "Unlimited" are also shown during the 34-second clip.

Pocket Now reported that the upcoming phones from Asus will be 4.5 inches, 5 inches or 5.5 inches, and  6-inches, and are named ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Max, respectively. The price range is expected to be from US$110 up to US$370.

No individual details are current available for each model, but rumors circulating in the community mention that the upcoming phones will have Snapdragon processors, with an SD 820 as the highest possible configuration. Memory is pegged at 4GB max and will come with 32GB internal storage. A microSD slot is also believed to be incorporated in the design. The main camera is expected to be at 23MP at maximum while the front-facing snapper will most likely be at 8MP on all three.

Additionally, the lineup is said to come with a non-removable battery, LTE connectivity, as well as the ZenUI 3.0 on top of the Android Marshmallow operating system. The screen resolution is said to be Full HD or 1920 x 1080 pixels and protected by Gorilla Glass 4 2.5D.

Ecumenical News reported that the upcoming Asus Zenfone 3 will have metal frames, while the back panel will incorporate glass in its design, which will also protect its the fingerprint scanner. The report added that a model might come with a MediaTek processor.

The Zenvolution event by Asus is happening on May 30, a day ahead of the main Computex 2016 event, and will end on June 4 at the Taipei World Trade Center in Taipei.
