ASUS recently unveiled their version of NVIDIA's flagship GTX 1080, dubbed the ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080. The latest graphics card comes in two variants -- the standard version is called Strix-GTX1080-8G , and the premium version is Strix-GTX1080-O8G. ASUS included several nice things in its higher model card.

Both cards will be coming in with 8GB GDDR5X, 2560 CUDA Core, 10 Gbps memory clock, 256-bit memory interface and a maximum resolution of 7680 x 4320. All NVIDIA applications also come with both, plus ASUS's own GPU Tweak II with XSplit Gamecaster.

The ASUS ROG Strix-GTX1080-8G, also called the Founder's Edition, looks exactly like the NVIDIA version and is priced at US$619.99.

The ASUS ROG STRIX-GTX1080-O8G is another story. The GPU looks like a beast with its Triple Wing-Blade 0db fans. The patented blade design offers 105 percent more air pressure and provides the maximum air flow it can create. It is also combined with a DirectCU III Technoloy direct contact heatpipes that provide an additional 30 percent cooling efficiency. The 0db fans make it 3 times quieter than similarly designed cards and the product is considered the coolest and quietest GPU card on the market.

ASUS also enhanced its clock speed. The NVIDIA version offers 1670 MHz for base and 1733 MHz boosted speeds. The GTX1080-O8G offers two modes: Gaming, which offers 1759 MHz base and 1898 boosted speeds, and OC, which offers 1784 MHz base and 1936 MHz boosted speeds.

The company also changed a little in its interface. It offers a single DVI output, two HDMI Outputs, and two display ports.

Additionally, the Aura RGB Lighting offers personalization on another level. The shroud and the backplate contain LED lights that can display many diverse colors and come with six pre-programmed lighting effects. This includes Static (always on), Breathing (fades in and out), Strobing (flashes on and off), Color Cycle (fades between the rainbow colors), Music effect (throbs with the beat of the music) and GPU temperature (color changes according to GPU load).

The ASUS Rog STRIX-GTX1080-O8G is available for US$639.99.
