'Arrested Development' season 5 news: Show renewed or not?

Ever since Netflix released the fourth season of "Arrested Development" in 2013, fans of the show have been wondering if there will be a season 5. The network hasn't made any announcements yet, nor has show creator Mitchell Hurlitz. The cast has remained quiet, too, until show regular Henry Winkler made a very hopeful statement earlier this week.

People had a 30-second interview with Winkler and asked him about any news for "Arrested Development" season 5.

He said, "I had lunch with Ron Howard and I'm going to hold his toasts to the fire. And he said to me 'We believe we're doing a season 5.' That's all I know, I'm holding to it like the side of the mountain."

This recent statement is great news for the loyal fans of the show since it debuted on Fox in 2003, where it ran for three seasons and was cancelled in 2006. "Arrested Development" is about a dysfunctional but wealthy family — The Bluths. The show got the kick due to poor ratings. In 2011, Netflix picked it up for season 4 and ordered 15 episodes, but they had it in a different format.

According to Noob Movies, the biggest problem with "Arrested Development" is the busy cast members. In season 4, the absence of some of the characters in the episodes was very obvious. In fact, it was very rare to see all the characters in one scene. This is probably why Netflix chose a different format for season 4. They focused on one character per episode, instead of filming the whole family.

Hurlitz has not made any announcement yet. Netflix hasn't made any comment yet. Are they still trying to gather the cast members again for this season? It can be surmised that they won't make a public announcement about season 5 until they're sure they have the key people on board. Nonetheless, Winkler did say that a fifth run is in the plan.
