iPhone 6s and 6s Plus release date: Force Touch panel shipments in full swing?

Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Apple

Apple has its ways of getting attention, and one topic that media outlets are currently talking about is its Force Touch technology being integrated into the next line of iPhones.

According to Digitimes, Apple's suppliers are already shipping Force Touch panels for the so-called iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The publication added that the shipment started back in June although there were only limited quantities shipped back then. It was only last month that Apple reportedly entered mass production.

The Force Touch is a feature that responds with different functions to the pressure of a user's touch. It was first seen in the Apple Watch and was later integrated in the newest Macbook. It is expected that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will be the next ones to have the feature.

Meanwhile, new leaked renders of the Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have emerged. The images came from leakster uSwitch UK and they are allegedly based on schematics from Apple itself. Interestingly, these renders show that the new iPhones might be thicker than their predecessors.

From the iPhone 6's 6.9 mm thickness, the iPhone 6s swelled up to 7.1 mm as depicted in the photos. The iPhone 6s Plus is 7.3 mm thick, marginally bulkier than the previous iteration, which was at 7.1 mm. According to Techno Buffalo, Apple is exerting an effort to make the devices more durable ever since the Bendgate experiment.

The site also surmised that this thicker build is due to a camera upgrade. Ever since talk about the new iPhones started, there have already been speculations that the company will give the device's camera a major boost. As per reports, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus could sport a 12 MP rear shooter.

Meanwhile, a report from Forbes cites rumors that Apple will move the Touch ID to either the iPhone's rear or inside the screen itself to thin out the bezels. The site, however, argues that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus (being "s" upgrades) won't be very different aesthetically from their predecessors.

The new iPhones are expected to come out in September.
