Android Marshmallow update rumors: Schedule of updates for several Samsung Galaxy devices leaked online

Many owners of Samsung's top phones will be happy to know that their devices will soon be updated to the latest Android version, Marshmallow, if the leaked document proves to be true. Last year's high-end phones are on the top of the list.

A document allegedly from Samsung, dated Feb. 29, was obtained by Phone Arena and shows the roadmap for Samsung Galaxy devices getting Android 6.0. It also looks like that the person holding the document took a picture of the upper half of the page or cropped out the lower portion. Details of Phase 1 of the plan can be clearly seen, but not Phase 2.

The Galaxy S6 (model no. SM-G9201) and S6 edge (SM-G9251) phones are reportedly being updated this month. It will then be followed by the Note 5 (SM-N9201) and the S6 edge+ (SM-G9281), according to the document.

In April, the Android Marshmallow will roll out to the Note 4 (SM-N910G) and the Note edge (SM-N915G), to be followed by the S5 (SM-G900F) in May. The Galaxy Alpha will be updated in June. The status for these updates are all approved, as stated in the document.

The updates for the Galaxy Tab S2 8-inch (SM-T715Y) and S2 9.7-inch (SM-T815Y) are currently in the testing stage and may be released around May.

The report also stated that Phase 2 will include the Galaxy A7, a non-flagship phone, and is also expected to be updated by June of this year.

The Marshmallow update for Samsung devices will provide users with an updated TouchWiz, the company's own user interface atop the Android operating system.

In other news, early owners of the latest flagship phone from Samsung, the S7, seem to be satisfied with its battery performance. Users are comparing and discussing their usage of the Galaxy S7 on Reddit and are generally happy with it. One user was able to use the phone for 1 day and 6 hours on a single charge, with 2 percent battery power remaining.
