Google Android 5.1 Lollipop will be coming soon to the roster of Nexus devices from Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless though there was no actual date mentioned on when the latest Android OS update would actually be available.

Of all the Nexus devices, the only variant that is confirmed to be already using the Android 5.1 Lollipop is the Nexus 6 by way of Verizon Wireless. The device has hit stores on March 19 where it is already equipped with the latest Android OS.

Verizon Wireless will be offering the Nexus 6 for $249.99 with a 2-year contract with Verizon edge. A bonus awaits customers who place their orders before March ends, entitling them to a free 6-month subscription package to Google Play Music All Access.

As far as Sprint and T-Mobile is concerned, the former announced that the Android OS update for the Nexus 6 is under way. For T-Mobile, the only announcement was that the Android 5.1 update is being pushed for the Nexus 4, 5 and 7.

Among the new features Nexus users can look forward to include multiple SIM card support (for phones with DUAL Sims), HD calls, and device protection once the user logs on using his Google account. Apparently the device can only be unlocked once the user enters his or her Google account credentials. The stricter security feature applies even after the factory settings would be reset.

Moreover, the latest Android update will reportedly bring back the silent mode feature and offer improved WiFi connectivity which prevents devices from connecting to faulty networks.
