Android 5.0 battery problems persist

One of the many problems that plagued the recent releases of the Android platform, especially its Lollipop version, is its poor battery management, and many Android users are experiencing this particular glitch even now. And since the Android 5.1 update still slow in rolling out across Android devices, most users are still on the 5.0 version of Lollipop.

Why is the poor battery life glitch being singled out on the 5.0 version of Android? Apparently, when the KitKat version of Android gave way to Lollipop, one of the things that was left behind was the auto-closure of idle apps. In the introduction of Lollipop 5.0, apps still continue to run in the background even after users have dismissed the program, which ultimately leads not just to continued mobile data connection usage, but faster depletion of battery power as well. Most users of the 5.0 version on Samsung, HTC, and other brands continually have running background apps even if the user already killed the app. Even the battery-efficient Sony Xperia Z3 has been affected with the glitch when users tried to update their Sony devices to Lollipop 5.0.2.

With the 5.1 update still far on the horizon for some users, what most device owners with the 5.0 version need to do right now is to have a work-around at hand. According to some observers, since the exclusion of the auto-closure feature is code-related, what users can do is to control and minimize other settings. For example, users should make sure to take advantage of the power-saving mode, which comes standard in most smartphones today. In addition, settings such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and media controls can be freely adjusted and turned off when not in use.

With the upcoming release of the anticipated upgrade of Android to its M version, most observers think that the many glitches and bugs that the 5.0 and 5.1 versions of Lollipop will finally be addressed.
