New leaks have indicated that the LG G2 will make a jump to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop in the near future. Its successor, the LG G3, was one of the first handsets to get a taste of Google's latest software update. The company may be pulling off another first by moving Android 5.0.1 Lollipop to its older device.

Many Android fans and LG G2 users are already at the edge of their seats for the update, thanks to a couple of video leaks that sprouted online. The first video showed how the firmware's bragged Material Design partnered with the new UI design from the LG G3 looked and functioned on the standard LG G2. The second clip contained a South Korean model of the device with Lollipop also running. Interestingly, LG has been vocal about its plans to include the latter on its Lollipop launch, Phone Arena reiterated. Speculations that the new features and bug fixes of Android 5.0 Lollipop may grace the last-generation LG offering as well are becoming more rampant.

Meanwhile, Voice Chronicle mentioned something about screenshot leaks that made the rounds a month ago. The images showed a South Korean variant of an LTE-A LG G2 model with the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. The site added that users may be getting the G3's GUI update, which is integrated in the Lollipop build as well. Furthermore, it noted that LG's rollouts are specific to Europe and Korea only, meaning users of the device in the U.S. will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the update. It went on to say that Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for LG G2 may not be coming to light at all.

Even with the speculations all too rife, LG, who is believed to be busy working on releasing the updates, has yet to corroborate on the matter.
