Amir Khan vs Kell Brook fight news 2015: Bout not happening at this point

Amir Khan may likely be shunned as a possible opponent for Mayweather's scheduled September fight with rumors pointing to Andre Berto as the likely opponent. So if that would be the case, who will the southpaw Briton face instead?

No official names have been mentioned but like before, many are ranting for a Khan vs. Kell Brook fight. Even though he did say before that he would be interested and that he was not afraid of Brook, it seems that Khan wants Brook to fight top fighters first to prove that he deserves to be in the same ring as him.

Brook had already criticized Khan for avoiding him saying that they should get it on despite the fact that both are countrymen. Remember that Khan had stressed before that he would prefer to fight someone else rather than Brook since they are from the same country.

Khan sees little reason for him to fight Brook. Khan thinks lowly of Brook and part of that is because his fellow Briton has not faced top-notch boxers that would place him along the ranks of Khan, Mayweather, and even Manny Pacquiao.

"Why should I – when I'm financially secure myself, making good money fighting in America – why should I give Kell Brook that big payday by him fighting me?" says Khan in an interview.

The word around is that Brook will most likely face Leonard Bundu or Chris Van Heerden, two boxers who are not really considered as contenders. And for that, Khan explains why Brook has been missing when it comes to naming opponents in big fights.

"My name gets mentioned with Mayweather and Pacquiao. You don't see Kell Brook's name mentioned with Mayweather and Pacquiao."

Given that Brook has proven himself as a good boxer, it does remain to be seen how he fares against tougher and big name fighters. Maybe Eddie Hearn can do something about it?
