Amir Khan is no stranger when you talk about opponents that Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao were considering but the British boxer believes that he can get a more convincing chance if he is successful against Chris Algieri.
Khan and Algieri will face off on May 29 in New York as both try to outbox each other and move on. Of the two, the fight seems to be more important to Khan at the moment considering he has already been in the list of candidates either fighter could face next.
Khan was someone who would have faced Mayweather, but the undefeated American boxer ruled him out as an opponent in May of 2014.
On the other side, Khan was all ready to face Pacquiao if the Mayweather fight did not materialize. More or less, Khan has obviously been in the picture. And to make sure his name doesn't fall from that list, winning over Chris Algieri is proving to be a must.
Assuming that Khan wins over Algieri, the best bet is to see him facing off against his former sparring partner Pacquiao.
Khan and Pacquiao had met earlier this year at the Fitzroy Lodge Boxing Club where Pacquiao said he would face Khan if Mayweather was afraid to fight him. And everyone knows what happened next and the result was this upcoming mega fight on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Despite his friendship with Pacquiao, Khan is picking Mayweather to come out on top. He claims that Pacquiao is on the decline and that Mayweather will win it all on points.
Khan is apparently referring to the in-ring brilliance of Mayweather who is expected to bank heavily on his experience against the aggressive Filipino fighter.
With all that said, Khan's next opponent could very well depend on who wins (or loses) on May 2. But before he looks ahead, he needs to win over Chris Algieri – convincingly.
