The teenage Netflix show "13 Reasons Why" had to stop production of the upcoming season 2 due to a massive forest fire. The order to stop production was implemented last Monday, Oct. 8. Even if the series was scheduled to be released in 2018, the setback could probably push the release date a little bit later than the producers intended.

In a report by Slash Film, the forest fire spread in the nearby forest of Vallejo in Northern California, which is very close to where production of "13 Reasons Why" was set. After the unplanned hiatus, many of the cast members took to social media to seek help since the fire claimed the lives of about 21 people as of late. The reach of the fire stretched to 100,000 acres, right through Sonoma and Napa counties.

According to Deadline, many of the cast and crew were given courtesy flights home, since a good number of them live in some of the areas affected by the forest fire. One of the most affected regions in California are the sectors wherein wine is produced. These fires were the most "out of control" and about 200 more people were reported missing, while communities in Santa Rosa were completely engulfed.

It is reported by Celebrity Cafe that there was an estimate of about 20 wildfires that were running rampant all over Northern California. The area is still covered in thick smoke, which means that filming soon could prove to be impossible. If all goes well, the cast and crew of the show can resume production on Oct. 14, Sunday.

Cartermatt pointed out that the most important matter at hand right now is attending to the victims of the tragedy. Given that it is possible for some of the cast and crew to have suffered some personal losses due to the fire, the production will have to regroup and re-assess their production. Additionally, given the shows current popularity, the showrunners need not worry about seeing a drop in ratings or interest.

More news regarding the production of "13 Reasons Why" season 2 will be made available as soon as the tragedy has been dealt with.
