The "Young Sheldon" protagonist faces a life or death situation in episode 4 of the spin-off series, but with the obsessive-compulsive brainiac, it is not as serious as it seems.
In the promo for the next episode titled "A Therapist, a Comic Book, and a Breakfast Sausage," the young Sheldon, played by Iain Armitage, chokes on his food, the most horrifying experience to watch for any parent. His dad George Sr. (Lance Barber) will not let anything happen to his youngest son. He raises him upside down in a bid to get the stuck food out of his throat.
In the process, Sheldon will be heard saying, "They say life passes before your eyes. All I saw was my brother licking jelly and putting it back in the jar."
As soon as he is down, he tells his brother off to his mother Mary (Zoe Perry).
Not much yet is told of the upcoming episode, but looks like it will show more of the unbelievably OC Sheldon that "The Big Bang Theory" fans have come to love.
In the previous episode, "Poker, Faith, and Eggs," the iconic Meemaw (Annie Potts) made her series regular debut. Meemaw's character is known in "The Big Bang Theory" as Sheldon's doting grandmother.
Her first appearance came after George Sr. was brought to the hospital for chest pains, which turned out to be a minor heart attack. Meemaw arrived at the Cooper family home to babysit the kids. However, she soon fell asleep and the children, worried about their father, rushed to the hospital in a car driven by 14-year-old Georgie (Montana Jordan). It is revealed that this adventure was very traumatic for Sheldon, and the reason why he would always hate driving.
When Meemaw woke up to three missing kids, she immediately followed them to the hospital and pretended that she was the one who drove them there, saving Mary from additional panic.
The episode also showed the beginnings of the genius who does not believe in God. Sheldon was shown going inside the chapel to pray. However, instead of talking to God, he prayed to French mathematician Blaise Pascal. As his adult self (Jim Parsons) explained in a voiceover, "My thinking was, if [Pascal] was right about the existence of God, then he could pass along my request for my dad to get better."
The fourth episode of "Young Sheldon" will air on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 8:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
