Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release date, specs, features roundup: Phablet to launch on Nov. 5?

Xiaomi Mi Note Xiaomi

Rumor has it that Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be launched on Nov. 5, which is less than a month away. The info came via Weibo from online leakster Leaksfly, who claims that the highly anticipated handset will be the first from the China-based tech firm to sport an all-metal unibody, according to TechnoBuffalo.

The specs passed around in the rumor mill also make it seem like the Note 2 will be quite the flagship. The device is said to come in a massive 5.7-inch Quad HD display. It is also reported that the device will house a MediaTek MT6797 Helio X20 processor.

But word on the street is that not all units of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will have the said mega-powerful Helio chipset under its hood. A variant of the phablet will apparently be fitted out with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

But since the new-gen unit won't be ready this year, this version of the flagship is expected to be released next year. What the use of the chipset also hints is that the new iteration of the Xiaomi Mi Note will be able to support an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with ease.

The same Qualcomm unit is also said to be used on another one of the company's flagship, which is the long-overdue Xiaomi Mi 5. This makes its release date sometime around next year.

If Leaksfly is right about the release date of the Mi Note 2, an outing for Xiaomi Mi 5 set next year could explain why Xiaomi is releasing Xiaomi Mi Note 2 first even if it hasn't been a year since it released the Xiaomi Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro.

As for the rest of the specs sheet for the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, rumor mills claim it will put up a 4-GB RAM, 32 GB of storage space, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 4G LTE compatibility and a 16-MP rear-facing shooter.
