One of the most talked about, yet-to-be-released top-tier smartphone is Xiaomi Mi 5. Leak after leak, the tech world got to know more about what the device boasts and what it looks like. But it is only this time that a release date for the flagship was specified.

A new report out of Weibo leakster Leaksfly is claiming that the long-rumored device will finally be launched on Dec. 3, which is almost 6 months since its expected outing. Its predecessor was released back in June 2014 and a year later, the premium phone was nowhere to be found.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be fitted out with the new and more powerful Snapdragon 820 processor, which Leaksfly claims will be launched on Nov. 20. Qualcomm has been dribbling morsels of information about the chipset in the past few days, which hints that the unit is coming together.

However, there are also reports that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will house a MediaTek Helio X20 processor instead, another chipset that guarantees smooth performance. It remains to be seen which the China-based tech firm will end up using.

But boosting the processing power nonetheless is 4GB worth of RAM, which seems to be the standard to majority of new high-end phones. The device will apparently feature no microSD slot so users will get 16 GB and 64 GB of storage space where they can store all their apps, games and files.

It is being said that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be out with a 5.3-inch Quad HD display clocking in a breathtaking 554ppi pixel density, which should make for a stellar screen quality. Taking pictures will be a breeze with its 16-MP rear-facing dual LED flash camera and 8-MP selfie snapper.

To be able to enjoy the smartphone's redoubtable package, users get a hefty 3,030mAh battery to keep the lights on. While Xiaomi is yet to make things official, fans can hope that Dec. 3 will be a big day for Xiaomi and its fans.
