2K Sports' parent company Take-Two Interactive has annnounced during its latest earnings report that "WWE 2K16," the latest iteration of the wildly popular wrestling simulation series, will hit the shelves on Oct. 27. A PC edition for the upcoming game was not mentioned but this announced release date covers the game's availability on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
This marks a significant change in pattern seeing that "WWE 2K15" had separate launch dates for current- and last-generation consoles. The game was released Oct. 28 last year for the former and it took three weeks for it to arrive on the latter, landing on Nov. 18. The PC edition of the game was not made available until last month. What remains unchanged though is Take-Two's tradition of releasing its new games on the last Tuesday of October, thus "WWE 2K16" gets its release date.
Over the past few months, morsels of details about the game have trickled in. 2K Sports has recently withdrawn its support from its flagship "WWE" title so as to focus on "building for the future," vowing to make the upcoming title the best one in its franchise.
2K Sports has also been working on making "WWE 2K16" as realistic and as close to the real deal as possible. The game studio is adamant in providing the optimal wrestling experience by revamping the character designs and backgrounds. The company is using a multitude of cameras (there are several for every angle) to scan wrestlers in order to copy their likeness and appearance more accurately.
Not that past "WWE 2K" titles did not offer such. "WWE 2K15" already boasts immaculate quality. 2K Sports simply recognizes that the game's full potentials have not been unlocked yet and that they intend to do just that with "WWE 2K16."
Meanwhile, "NBA 2K16" is also slated for a fall release. It seems that Take-Two is not yet ready to reveal a specific release date although media outlets, basing on the release pattern, expect the game to come out on the first Tuesday of October.
Lastly, Take Two revealed that an unannounced triple A title from 2K is on the horizon as well.
