"Witches of East End" fans only have rage and frustration to broach after Lifetime cancelled the supernatural drama television series. On Oct. 5, fans believed that the show merely ended its second season with its two-hour finale and immediately looked forward to the next. But to everyone's disappointment, the series only reached its untimely culmination.
Venture Capital reports that Lifetime's decision to turn down a renewal for the show roots to its poor and declining ratings. It added that the season 2 viewership decreased gravely. Writer Melissa De La Cruz has made efforts in protracting the show, telling Entertainment Weekly how she attempted talking the producers into a renewal.
"I have asked producers if there is no hope for the show, if I can weave in some of the cliffhangers from season two so I can resolve them and bring closure," De La Cruz said. "I have an idea on how to do it, but we'll see. It's a legal issue so it might not be able to fly."
Expectedly, viewers of the show would not let "Witches of East End" get into the curtain call too soon. While assurance of a third season is of a faint possibility, fans seem to have taken matters into their own hands. One fan of the show started a petition for "Witches of East End" season 3. To date, there are already 68,000 people who signed and shared it. Among the horde is Channing Tatum, who, like the fans, hopes that his wife Jenna Dewan will get back into playing the role of Freya Beauchamp in the series.

Meanwhile, Madchen Amick, known as Wendy Beauchamp in the series, brings the hopes back. After learning that A&E's "Longmire" will get a fourth season through Netflix (also after the cast, the crew and the fans strived to find a network to nod to a renewal), the 43 year-old actress believes that the same could happen to "Witches of East End".
For now, fans have their fingers crossed for the comeback of witch sisters Freya Beauchamp, Ingrid Beauchamp (Rachel Boston), and Wendy Beauchamp with a highly-demanded third season.
