Winning thoughts

In keeping with the Olympics taking place in London less than six months from now, CWR has released a handy little book with 100 thoughts to help you succeed in life.

“Gold: 100 Winning Thoughts” is from the author of the bestselling “Little Book of Calm”, Richard Daly, and offers ‘winning thoughts’ to help people in their spiritual walk, to coping with failure, to self-development, to dealing with difficult people.

It opens with the creed of the founder of the modern Olympic movement, Baron Pierre De Coubertin: “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.”

With non-believers as much in mind as committed Christians, the wording is simple but meaningful and supported by Bible verses.

No 63, for example, reminds us to claim our reward, and the mindset of Apostle Paul who forgot what was behind and strained towards what was ahead: “Your life has a special purpose, regardless of the environment you were brought up in. Don’t let a negative past infiltrate your positive future.”

No 90 tells us to depend on God for success: “God says, ‘Without Me you can do nothing.’”

The glossy pocket-sized booklet is the ideal tool for missional Christians looking for ways to communicate the love of Christ and the transforming power of God’s Word to athletes, families of those taking part, and the hundreds of thousands of people visiting Britain for the occasion.

It’s especially ideal for flipping through when there’s a moment to spare.

CWR said: “Christians and those who are not yet Christian will be comforted, challenged and convinced that a life built upon the Word of God is the one true race to run.”
