'Walking Dead' season 5 premiere tonight: Episode 9 'What Happened and What's Going On'

After a long winter hiatus, Rick Grimes and the gang are back. "The Walking Dead" returns with its latest episode this Sunday and the battle for survival continues.

In the midseason finale, Beth Greene met her demise and this had a huge impact on the other characters. However, the group has no choice but to move forward. This Sunday, episode 9 will air and it is titled "What Happened and What's Going On."

The episode's official synopsis reads:

"After facing the all of the recent trials, a slight detour may offer the solution that the group has been seeking. It has to be seen if this detour will lead them to the community."

The synopsis is definitely aligned with the recent spoilers that came out for the mid-season premiere. Over at The Spoiling Dead Fans Facebook page, a shot of US Weekly's (print edition) article on the show's latest episode was uploaded. It says that the "latest destination is a barricaded community nearby."

Noah suggests that Rick and the group make their way to the Shirewilt community as this is where he and his family lives. The group is determined to walk 100 miles if it will be a safe haven from them. However, as the synopsis says, they will have to take a small detour first.

Also, in that article, there is a specific mention of a "petrified member" having "weird hallucinations." According to some spoilers, it could be Tyreese who will be having these hallucinations since he was very close to being eaten by a walker.

AMC released a two-minute video, which happens to be the first two-minutes of "What Happened and What's Going On." The video shows the group mourning for their dead loved ones and talking about how to move forward.

While the loss of Beth is hard to accept, fans are very happy that the group is back together again. Further, Morgan Jones joins Rick Grimes as they find a new refuge to stay safe, at least for now.

"The Walking Dead" midseason premiere airs Feb. 8 on AMC. Check out the episode promo here.
