'True Detective' season 2 episode 4 'Down Will Come': Frank tracks down someone trying to pull him back out the streets

Vince Vaughn as Frank Seymon HBO

Whatever is bound to happen in "True Detective" season 2 episode 4 titled "Down Will Come," HBO wanted to keep it a surprise. The network hasn't released a synopsis for the upcoming episode, which hints that this installment has the makings of a stunner.

According to reports, this could only mean that either a shocking revelation will be dropped or someone will bite the dust in the episode. Whichever it turns out to be, this makes this "True Detective" episode one to wait for.

What can be picked up from the trailer is that Frank is being pulled out of the streets and he intends to do something worse. In a HBO promo, Vince Vaughn, who plays the role of the crime lord bidding to change his ways, shared some insight on where the story will take his character.

"Frank has his own understanding of why he invests his time and energy into things that he does, and I think his conscience is pretty clear about it," Vaughn explains, adding that the character isn't "looking to exploit the weak." "He's looking more to play the dice game of life with people who also want to try to play the dice game of life," he continued.

As for Ray, it looks like he will be visiting his son and will be sharing a moving moment with him in the "True Detective" season 2 episode. Ani is seen in the trailer to carry on with the investigation with Ray, following the steps of the victim, visiting places he went to before he was killed.

Paul, on the other hand, is trying to break out of something that's keeping him on the inside. Perhaps, his portrayer, Taylor Kitsch can shed some light on that. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said that his character is "unraveling."

There are a couple scenes where you see him crack and not be able to hold on like he could before. "Those are the scenes that just jumped out at me [to show] why he does what he does and acts how he acts," he explained.

"[You'll see] where he's come from and how suppressed he's been in that house and that relationship with his mother kind of unfolds. Then with the case, it's a slow burn. With Paul, he has bigger beats with his home life and just the repercussions of acting on something within himself. The [weight] he puts on himself is enormous, the strain."

"True Detective" season 2 episode 4 "Down Will Come" will air July 11 on HBO. Alternatively, it can be watched online through live stream with HBO GO.
