'Tron 3' rumors: Movie to be called 'Tron: Ascension'?

Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde in Tron: Legacy

Details about Disney's science fiction franchise "Tron" always come as a surprise for many. The last film titled "Tron: Legacy" came out five years ago, and now, rumor mills are claiming that what the Internet is calling "Tron 3" already has a proper title.

A tweet sent out by Production Weekly just recently revealed that the upcoming flick, which it straightforwardly called "Tron: Ascension," will start shooting in Vancouver in October and will wrap up in February next year. How true this is, there is no telling.

Disney has so many sequels and "three-quels" in mind, but it is particularly mum about this one despite the project reportedly making headway already. But assuming Production Weekly's uncomplicated title and date drop is accurate, it looks like it is a bit early for the studio to give details.

Nevertheless, there is already news making the rounds saying that "Tron: Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski is back at the forefront and that Garrett Hedlund is ready to morph into the famous video-game developer's son Sam in the new movie.

With information too scanty, it is still unknown what the forthcoming film will be about. Despite that, "Tron: Legacy" has left some fascinating premise to work on. Quorra (Olivia Wilde), Kevin Flynn's (Jeff Bridges) apprentice and confidante, has gone to the real world. Furthermore, the movie culminated with a new baddie on the loose, played by Cillian Murphy. The son of the original "Tron" villain Ed Dillinger has already established his evil schemes and it will surely be interesting how everything works out from there.

It can be recalled that back in 2013, Kosinski already has a clear picture of the action in mind.

"Tron 3 delivers on the promise of Tron Legacy, particular the final scenes," Kosinski revealed to Empire as he promoted his movie "Oblivion" back in 2013. "There's a big clue there as to where we'll go with the next one. There's some characters we establish at the beginning of Tron Legacy who have a much larger role in Tron 3."
