After teasing a new chapter in the "Total War" video game franchise, developers Creative Assembly and Sega have announced their latest upcoming title, "Total War: Three Kingdoms," which will revolve around Chinese history in the middle ages. The game will mark the first attempt of the developers at creating a war-simulator set in China, or any Asian country for that matter.

The reveal trailer starts off with Chinese music, and Chinese calligraphy-style artwork that paints the setting of the historic narrative and briefly explains the conditions of China during the year 190 CE. During this period, China was still divided into different nations, or kingdoms, and was oppressed by the historical figure Dong Zhuo -- who was at the height of his tyranny during this time.

In an attempt to overthrow Dong Zhuo, three empires joined forces and sought for a much-needed break from the oppression of the tyrant. The trailer also shows a lengthy and elaborate battle sequence between the ancient Chinese heroes, Lu Bu, Guan Yu, and Guan Ping, wherein they clashed spears with one another. However, no actual gameplay footage is shown in the trailer.

It is safe to assume that fans of the "Total War" series can expect the same formula of the turn-based empire running game, with advanced real-time combat tactics in battle sequences that players have grown to love. Players will be able to take control of large armies all at once, and strategize their plan of attack on the fly.

Only this time, the setting is something that players have never seen from the developers of "Total War," which will provide them with a new aesthetic and opportunity to simulate historical battles. Additionally, players will be explored to a healthy amount of historical background and lore as well.

"Total War: The Three Kingdoms" has no definite release date as of now, but is scheduled to be released sometime in autumn.
