"Titanfall 2" is introducing a lot of new things for fans to enjoy, but it could also bring something back from its predecessor in the form of the fan-favorite Attrition mode.

For the uninitiated, Attrition is a deathmatch-style game mode between two teams that race to acquire 300 points by killing bots controlled by Artificial Intelligence and Pilots.

Respawn Entertainment chief operation officer Dusty Welch and art director Joel Emslie teased the possibility of the game mode being added to "Titanfall 2" in an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2016.

The publication says that when Welch and Emslie were asked about the prospect of bringing Attrition in some form to "Titanfall 2," the duo grinned. In answering the question, however, they kept their cards close to their chest.

"The tech test was a very small subset of the game. We're fans of playing (the original) Titanfall and all of its game modes, and just think people will have to wait to see what we provide next," Welch said.

"Is that enough of a hint? But we're all ears. I know the right people. I know the right guy. I know a guy and I think he's listening," he went on to say.

From the encounter, PlayStation Lifestyle was convinced that the Attrition mode will be included in "Titanfall 2." After all, the game mode was a massive hit to players of the first game. Of course, unless it is confirmed, fans are advised to take the report with a grain of salt.

In other related news, Respawn recently released a gameplay teaser for the highly-anticipated sequel where the Titan and the Pilot that controls it "become one."

In the 30-second clip accompanied, by a cover of "Come Together" by The Beatles, two Pilots in the middle of an intense battle summoned their Titans and fused together.

"Titanfall 2" will be released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
