'The Vampire Diaries' season 6 spoilers: Caroline switches off her humanity in episode 16 'The Downward Spiral'

Every fan of "The Vampire Diaries" knows that Caroline hasn't had an easy season. In the past episode, she had to deal with the death of her mother Sheriff Forbes. Now, she is a mental mess due to everything she's been through. She goes on a killing rampage after turning off her humanity, which is something she has never done before since she became a vampire.

Following a very emotional episode last week, episode 16 looks to be a little lighter. The upcoming episode is titled "The Downward Spiral" and the official synopsis goes:

"Caroline is spotted, getting a little crazy as she reveals that she's switched off her humanity switch to Elena and Bonnie. Caroline is seen, taking a huge bite out of some guy's neck. Damon jokes about Caroline's new crazy condition claiming he knew it would happen."

Caroline switching off her humanity switch is a serious matter. However, the episode preview seems fun with Bonnie, Elena and Damon poking fun at the new Caroline.

Bonnie says, "It's weird. It's like she's Caroline but not."

As for Caroline, she looks happy with her decision. Nonetheless, it is pretty obvious that the title describes what she is going through. She looks fine now, but when she flips the humanity switch back on again, it's going to be a difficult transition once more.

Meanwhile, Steroline shippers are very happy to finally see Stefan and Caroline share their first kiss. Last week, fans hoped that the two will finally discuss the kiss. They did, but it was too brief.

In a talk with TV Line, actress Candice Accola assured fans that Stefan and Caroline will talk about it, saying, "We will see them discuss it, and the result of that conversation will really paint a picture of what's in store for them in the future."

She further shared what she thinks about the progression of the Stefan-Caroline relationship. Accola said that she loves that it was a "slow burn" and wasn't an "aggressively dramatic moment."

"They didn't need to start ripping each other's clothes off. It was just a sweet, simple first kiss. And we could not have had a better sunset for that location shoot," she shared. "The first day we were supposed to shoot it was cloudy and grey, so we swapped some scenes around and we filmed it the next day. We had to wait for the sun to set, then once it started setting, everybody was like, 'Go! Go!'"

Accola was also happy to say that every character looks comfortable at a Stefan and Caroline relationship right now. Even Elena is comfortable with it, so everything's looking good.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 returns on March 12 with "The Downward Spiral."
