The next episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 sees Damon and Alaric go down different paths. Titled "Live Through This," the installment shows the former make a positive change for himself and his life and the latter do what could be something very destructive to him and everybody else.

From the moment his love of his life was killed, Alaric set out to bring Jo back from the dead. With the phoenix stone in his clutches, he finally sees Jo breathe again. But if what happened to Oscar is any indication, chances are Alaric isn't looking at the Jo he knew.

When Alaric, Bonnie and Damon restored Oscar's life back in the previous "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode with the stone, he started to wreak havoc and attack anyone in his way. Fans can imagine what Jo, who was dead for quite a while now, will be like.

In "Live Through This," the trio will learn information the synopsis described as "disturbing" as to how the phoenix stone works and from the looks of it, Jo will be the tangible example of the powerful stone's side effects, which either Alaric ignors or is too blinded to consider.

Meanwhile, this week's "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode also promises a new Damon. The synopsis says that he finally chooses to "make a change" and viewers expect this involves him realizing that reverting to his old ways will bring the woman of his life back.

As this happens, Bonnie and Enzo will happen upon a "violent threat" while Lily prepares for the coming of a significant person from her past. The arrival of this certain someone sounds nothing but ominous.

Also, the promo for the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode shows Caroline lose sleep over Stefan connecting with Valerie. "I just sent my boyfriend to spend a day with his first love," she tells Bonnie. She thinks that it will be "good for them" and will help "clear out the 19th century drama."

But is it good for her? As Caroline said those words, the clip shows scenes of Stefan and Valerie getting a little too intimate. A pregnancy bombshell is even dropped too.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 5 "Live Through This" airs Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
