The spinoff for "The Vampire Diaries" has been nothing but a huge success for The CW Network. Fans can't get enough of the series, and now that season 2 is returning, things in New Orleans are going to heat up pretty quickly.

In a talk with TVLine, executive producer Julie Plec teased about a couple of story arcs in season 2B, one of which is the "Curse of the First Born" now looming over the head of Klaus.

Back in episode 6, Dahlia cursed the entire bloodline of Esther. The curse was about sacrificing every first born child. Now, Klaus is on a mission to protect his daughter Hope from this threat.

Meanwhile, in the upcoming episode "Gonna Set Your Flag on Fire," the vampires and werewolves will be trapped together under Vincent's spell. With each side trying to lead their own group and protect themselves from the other, achieving peace seems impossible. The official synopsis, as shared by Wet Paint, reads:

"With Vincent on the loose and hell bent on revenge, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) brings Cami (Leah Pipes) to the safe house as he and Hayley return to the compound. Hayley and Jackson devise a plan to bring the vampires and werewolves together to consider a truce, but tensions grow when Vincent places a spell on the compound, trapping the two sides together. Meanwhile, Elijah grows concerned when Rebekah fails to show up at the safe house, prompting Klaus to confront Kaleb (Daniel Sharman) for answers."

Further, Rebekah will be back but she won't be played by Claire Holt anymore. Massie Richardson-Sellers is taking her place, since the character Rebekah decided to rock a new body. However, her new start won't be a good one since she'll find herself in a predicament — being stuck in an insane asylum. She will turn to Cassie for help.

"There are plenty of flashback [opportunities] to explore what Rebekah has been doing for the past 1,000 years. When 'The Originals' Season 2 returns from its long holiday break, the fans will see the Original vampire adjusting to her new body while figuring out how she could free herself from being trapped in a New Orleans mansion with a boundary spell on it," Plec teased.

"The Originals" season 2B will air starting Jan. 19 on The CW.
