The sequel to Disney's epic family superhero film "The Incredibles" is slowly solidifying. With his stint for "Tomorrowland" drawing to a close (the film will be released on May 22), writer-director Brad Bird has confirmed that he has started working on the highly-anticipated sequel, currently dubbed as "The Incredibles 2."

"I'm just starting to write it so we'll see what happens," Bird told NPR, adding that "The Incredibles 2" is "percolating."

There is still no word what premise "The Incredibles 2" will follow, but now that Bird has officially shifted his focus on the project, fans can expect to hear more details about the movie.

As far as speculations go, "The Incredibles 2" will be making a five-year jump and is expected to delve more on Jack-Jack and his blazing superpowers. Many surmise that the youngest Incredible may be the one to bring trouble in the sequel. It may be Jack-Jack's inability to control his powers where new quandaries will form. Some even surmise that the inadvertent rebellion of the little one will be used by a villain rising from the dead —Syndrome.

There are also suggestions that Edna Mode might take the villain mantle. Incidentally, Bird revealed that he was the one who voiced the cult-favorite superhero costume designer in the film.

"I was exceedingly cheap and available," he said.

Others think that Gazerbeam's family will be out to seek revenge for their fallen loved one, who perished a hero as he hacked into Syndrome's database to stop his evil plans.

Indeed, "The Incredibles 2" will leave fans guessing for a while as the development for the movie is just moving ahead. But despite the long wait, it is rewarding enough to know that Disney is working on the sequel many fans are looking forward to.
