One more episode to go and "The Good Wife" wraps up season 6. The finale of the season is an exciting one, not just because it wraps up the State Attorney shenanigans and everything in between, but also because it marks Kalinda Sharma's return after her sudden and stinging departure from the show.
The finale episode, executive producer Robert King told Entertainment Weekly, "answers a lot of questions regarding Kalinda, which I think there will be some mystery about."
"Has she truly left the show? Or are there still beats to be handled with, or story elements to be handled with her? So [the finale] answers the question of Kalinda for the year," the executive producer went on to say.
In the finale, Kalinda will have an encounter with Alicia after two whole seasons they have not shared air time together and it will be something that's "satisfying, heartbreaking [and] funny." Unfortunately though, fans have seen the last of Kalinda and Cary in last week's installment.
"That is the final scene between Cary and Kalinda," actor Matt Czuchry, who plays Cary in the series, told E! Online, referring to their moment in episode 20. "I think that's the heartbreaking thing for Cary and for the audience as well — there is a lack of closure there. She disappears mysteriously in the night. That, going forward for Cary, is going to be hard to handle in terms of lack of closure and no proper goodbye."
Although Czuchry admitted that his character will feel "the weight of the loss," he also mentioned that the abrupt exit of Kalinda, who is the woman Cary so passionately loves, tells the unpredictability of life.
"Again, what I do like about the Cary/Kalinda exit with the lack of closure: Life is messy. Often times you want closure with things and you can't get that and you have a difficult time in processing that and that traumatic event changes you," the actor said. "That's certainly the case for Cary in this way — like life in a lot of ways, you don't get those goodbyes you wish you had. That will be the case for Cary, obviously after dealing with it in terms of episode 20."
The season 6 finale of "The Good Wife" titled "Wanna Partner?" will air on May 10.
