'The Flash' season 2 spoilers, premiere date: More speedsters, dimensions

The Flash CW

The subject of time-travel is mind-twisting, to say the least, but the mega successful TV adaptation of DC Comics' "The Flash" is ready to explore more of its complications and mysteries. This means that the show will continue to perplex viewers' brains and will intensify the surging electricity of excitement through every comic book aficionado's system.

When the explosive first season of The CW hit ended, Barry Allen was out to save the city from being gulped by a giant wormhole. It also concluded Eobard Thawne's so-called endgame and, in the process, Eddie had to die. Cisco being a metahuman was hinted at, and Caitlin wedded Ronnie.

"The Flash" season 2 will delve into multiverses and in the new season, time-travel will be a recurring theme. In an interview with BuzzFeed, the Scarlet Speedster actor himself, Grant Gustin, discussed the direction the show is headed.

"There are no scripts yet, but [the producers have] broken the second season to me and it's going to be amazing," the actor said. "It's going to be even more comic book-y, which is fun, and it's going to go in the direction I want to go with Barry, which is a little more confident and cocky with his powers."

Gustin added that there will "different dimensions going on," opening the possibility of more speedsters coming. In the finale, the helmet of the original Scarlet Speedster Jay Garrick made an appearance, which seems to suggest that Barry won't be the only speedster in the show. This also fits nicely with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg's revelations.

"We are going to introduce a few more speedsters next year and a bunch more villains. How they and those villains come about is part of the surprise of season two. We're really excited," Kreisberg revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.

"The Flash" is well-loved mostly for its commitment to the comic book. Knowing that multiverses will be explored in the new season already says a lot about the show's desire to enrich the story, revivify the comics, and excite both seasoned DC Comics fans and tenderfoots.

"The Flash" season 2 will race through the small screen in fall.
