This week's "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode will be extra special and definitely heart-rending. Not only will viewers finally get to know what the ring Sheldon was gazing lovingly at in the season 8 finale was all about, fans will also get to do so with a little help from "Star Trek."

In the installment, which is titled "The Spock Resonance," Sheldon sits down in an interview with Wil Wheaton, better known to fans of the space saga as Wesley Crusher, for a "Star Trek" documentary being set up by the late Leonard Nimoy's son Adam, who will also appear in the episode.

Evidently, Sheldon is still unable to move on from his breakup with Amy and so during the interview, the heartbreak takes its toll on him and he opens up about his former girlfriend. As per spoilers for "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode, he will bring out a treasure box.

[Spoiler Alert!] Inside the box is a miniature figurine of Wil Wheaton as well as some sort of an actual document that bears the actor's name. The box also holds Sheldon's family heirloom ring, which he was going to give to Amy when he pops he question.

As if the feelings and the heartbreak came flooding back in a snap, Sheldon decides to propose to Amy anyway to know once and for all if Amy's heart still beats for him. However, before he could knock on her door, he saw her kiss another man (played by Stephen Merchant) goodnight.

Needless to say, Sheldon's heart burst into smithereens at the shattering sight. It remains to be seen if he will still push through with his plan to propose or at least try to woo his girl back to him again. Nonetheless, this "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode will be heavy for Sheldon.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode 7 "The Spock Resonance" airs Nov. 5 on CBS.
