'Tekken X Street Fighter' news: Game still on the table; Bandai producer asks fans to 'stay tuned'

"Tekken X Street Fighter" is not a priority for Bandai Namco Entertainment at the moment, but it looks like they still have plans for the fighting game crossover.

When asked by GameSpot about the development of the highly-anticipated title, "Tekken" producer Katsuhiro Harada simply urged fans to "stay tuned."

He did not provide more details, though, but his remark suggested that there is still something to look forward to as far as "Tekken X Street Fighter" is concerned.

Back in April, Harada revealed that the development for "Tekken X Street Fighter" was officially "on hold for the moment" over at Bandai Namco.

"When we develop fighting games, we try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games. But currently the situation is with fighting games, you have Street Fighter V that just released—a lot of people are playing that fervently—and there's a large crowd out there waiting or Tekken 7," Harada explained.

"We don't want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recently," he went on to say.

"Tekken X Street Fighter" is a follow-up to "Street Fighter X Tekken," the crossover game spearheaded by Capcom that was released in 2012.

The four-year-old fighting game had 2D style gameplay, as opposed to 3D gameplay, which will be used on "Tekken X Street Fighter."

The Bandai Namco title was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con International back in 2010, complete with a key art featuring Jin Kazama and Ryu.

For now, the closest fans could have in "Tekken X Street Fighter" is Akuma, a character from Capcom's fighting game franchise who made his way to "Tekken 7."

According to Harada, the plan for Akuma's crossover was already hatched even before "Street Fighter X Tekken" was released.
